Having a cold in winter was quite normal for me when i was younger. But my mother would always make her favourit chicken soup with lots of chili and ginger so that i would litarly burn away my cold. But till today it still works wonders and also tastes amazing.

Useful ingredient information:
Chicken thighs:
Chicken drumstick, thighs or breast is up to you. I think that it's just the easiest to pick the meat from the thighs. If you don't like chicken, no problem this recipe also works well with beef.
Ginger and chili:
Depending on your health or your taste you can add in more or less ginger and chillis. But I recommend keeping the ginger as it will keep you healthy and warm.
Ingredients: (Servings 6-8)
800 ml of water
6-8 chicken thighs
8 carrots
3 potatoes
2 onions
3 cloves of garlic
1 large ginger
1-2 chillis
1/2 celery root
Let's start cooking:
In a large pot heat 3 tbsp of neutral oil and fry the chicken on the skin side until its golden brown
Turn it over and fry it for another minute, take it out and let it rest on a plate
Cut up the potatoes, onions and celery root into quarters
The ginger and the carrots into 1 cm slices
As for the garlic only peel it and smash it with the side of your knife
Place everything into the pot and fry it for 2 minutes and pour in all of the water
When the water starts boiling add in the chicken and the chilis
Let it simmer on low heat for 40 minutes and sift off the foam on top with a spoon
Now sift everything through a strainer so that you only have the liquid left
On a separate plate take out the meat and separate it with two forks from the bone
When you are done you can place it back into the soup stock
For the vegetable take out the chilis, celery, onions and a part of the ginger
If you don't like it to spicy take out all of the ginger
Add the rest of the vegetable into a blender and blend until smooth
Once it has a nice creamy texture slowly stir it into the broth
Season with salt and pepper and serve while hot
Enjoy!
